Hello!

I recently got married and this is our first time filing married filing jointly, and my husband had some federal debts (just a thousand ), our state refund has been pulled to pay that- but when we check HIS IRS account , it doesn’t show that that balance has been cleared BUT when we check to see what’s up via our state, the online state portal won’t let us create an account in his name as the AGI doesn’t match what they have for the 25 year, but when I try to create an account the AGI is what they have on their end(which is weird because we both have the same AGI as we’re married filing jointly) , which is how we found out why our refund was shorter than expected (although we figured). My question is do I (or husband) just give it time before I start calling the IRS ?

A month ago he got a letter from the IRS stating a collecting agency took over his debt , I’m just afraid that the debt will be double pulled as it hasn’t applied to his direct IRS balance (he checked via website), I checked on my IRS account – just to make sure I also didn’t have debts and I didn’t .

I’m thinking his social security number was flagged as a debt owed and this is all part of an automatic system that will take some time ?

    Thoughts?
