CA state got a paper return this year because my spouse had issues getting his efile PIN code. We got federal fine. But California said processed and ach sent a month ago.
When I called they told me to call my bank my account numbers didn’t match. My bank said they never received anything. Upon 6 more calls and chats with the CA tax board, they admitted they sent my tax forms through an automated scanner which added a one before my account number and that I had to wait up to 3 months for them to get the money back and send me my check by mail.
The problem is that mail is not safe anywhere in CA. That and they are making me wait 3 more months for their mistake.
Anyone run into this?
