Hello, I have been using turbo tax for 10 years. I got my federal refund back and noticed my NY refund hadn’t gone through. I checked through their website and it says I was selected for an audit. I have not received the letter yet they stated they mailed. Is this common or normal to be flagged? My taxes look the same as they have for the last several years and the refunds I receive are only from having children and day care expenses. The number was similar to previous years.
This is the first year I didn’t pay extra for the TurboTax representation in an audit. Since I have never been audited I figured I’d save the money on it and of course insta punished. My wife and I both work normal jobs with normal tax forms. We take standard deduction always.
Any reason this would flag for state and not federal and how long should I expect to wait for the check?
