I’ll keep it short. I’ve been with my firm for 5-6 years, I’ve went from associate up to supervisor in that time. I make $115K and I’m a CPA. Firm was bought by PE & ever since things went from “you’ll be a partner here” to feeling like I’m constantly unhappy with my path. I don’t feel good about work anymore where I used to genuinely love it. I have an interview next week I got through a recruiter for a tax manager role at $130K. It’s a fully remote role. Obviously I need to interview and get it but what’s everyone’s thoughts on going from a supervisor role at a top 10 firm to a manager role at a MUCH smaller (only 5 partners) fully remote role? I honestly have been pretty unhappy for a few years and feel like I’m ready to make a move but I also know the grass isn’t always greener (my first firm was small and I absolutely hated it, but I also didn’t know what I was really doing back then).

Should I seriously consider going from supervisor at a top10 firm to manager at a small firm? I mean it really is essentially a promotion and then worst case I could make another move in another year or two. Thoughts?

should I switch jobs? firm bought by PE & I hate it now
