Hi all!
My father was pretty ill in 2024. He has a foot amputation and was hospitalized and in rehab for about 6 months. He lives with me and I am who manages his care. That being said I had a bad experience during this time. I didn’t end up filing taxes and then when I said for 2025 I was going to get things straightened out, I got laid off. During this I screwed up my withholding because I put head of household due to me taking care of him. Learned my lesson and that’s really how I ended up owing. My recent refund from this year was applied to my balance and I still owe 13k roughly. I set up a payment plan with minimal payments allowed but is there anyway I can get this reduced due to hardship? My husband I were freshly married during this time so we filed together and he is in this mess with me.

Wondering if it’s a waste of time trying anything or if I just keep to the payment plan and hope for the best…..

Father was sick looking for exception on my back taxes.
