In April, the accountant filed for extension because of a discrepancy we discovered for my schedule C LLC between quickbooks income and 1099s. I am grateful for him for discovering and we worked to fix it up and prepare for filing.

The problem now? He does not trust me and asks for proof for every little thing. I asked him to file W8 foreign tax and he is pushing away form doing it and wants to put things under commission. I am starting to get very upset about it and I’m thinking of changing accountant. I don’t mind paying more.

I guess what’s the downside of doing that other than money and extra time?

Can I change my accountant after he filed for extension?

      you can change

it’s August 25th. You call me to become your new tax preparer. My first question – why not finish with the old preparer?

Your answer gives me zero confidence.

Just the potential additional cost and time. If it’s a complex business you’ll have to walk the new accountant through some things that the old one would already know. I would try to find someone new soon since the price will only go up as October 15 gets closer

You are not required to use any specific provider to file. However, you may owe them for work they already performed.

    4. At this stage (due date approaching) it would be difficult finding another AND W-8? many will pass

How much of an issue is it to not file W8 for foreign based subcontractor and keeping them under commissions?
