Hello all! I know California tends to hold on to residents. My husband and I are moving internationally in a couple of weeks. We will have a permanent address to recieve US mail in Arkansas and change the bank statements there, but will not have any vehicles or domicile in the US. We will have a domicile abroad. Kids will be enrolled in school. I know we need to do taxes for the state for all we earned there. i was going to cash out my 401k after leaving here and then his 401k after the year flipped over for tax brackets. Will California try to hold on to his 401k money or will it be the domain of Arkansas? Will mine be subject to CA taxes and AR because it is the only US address we have? We both have CA drivers licenses but also are dual citizens with national ids and whatnot for the other location. Thank you!

I’m not seeing any reason any of your income is taxable to Arkansas. You won’t be living there or domiciled there. This will be about if you are domiciled abroad or not. Is this a permanent move?
