My accountant filed my 2025 tax return without my consent or signature. I did not sign an 8879. I know this is an issue but my main concern is that he missed $2500 in estimated tax payments I had made in 2025. The return that has been e-filed ( and is showing processed) says I owe $4500. With the estimated payments, I actually owe $2000. I have attempted to contact the accountant asking him to e-file an amendment, and no response. I am ready to submit the 1040X via mail before April 15.
Any advice? Do I file the 1040X, or wait to see if IRS will adjust the original return? Do I pay $4500 now, or $2000?

There’s no need to amend for the issue.
Pay the remaining balance due in full.
IRS will issue a CP23 when your return is processed. File the notice away with the rest of your 2025 federal tax records.
