I understand as a rideshare driver cannot take a deduction for the miles from my home to the first request but if so start driving from a location that is not my home so can. Is that accurate?
I was also under the impression that if a ride takes me to an area I cannot work in then the miles from the point I drop them off to the point I am able to accept rides again is also not deductible is that correct?
Question for a human I do not trust Claude re rideshare miles

It’s just about whether they’re business miles or commuting. You can deduct business miles and not commuting.
Business miles are from one work station to the next. Generally driving from your house to the first workstation is commuting and not deductible, but can be business mileage if your house is your principal place of business and is your first workstation. In your case, probably always commuting though.
If you start driving from a personal location to pick up a ride the drive to pick them up is not deductible.
My observation is that all miles driven to pick up customers and then to drive them to their destination are reasonable and necessary, and would be allowed if documented. As a practical matter, I have never heard of a rideshare driver having any such miles disallowed, and I am confident the vast majority of drivers claim all miles with no issues.
You would not typically have anything representing commuting miles unless you lived far from where you pick up customers.
Not tax advice, but just doubling the amount seems fair.
