Starting to get a bit concerned. Am I going to be audited or something? This has never happened before, but I also have never owed money before. It’s because I had to take a loan against my 401k for emergency reasons.

Confused. I filed almost a month ago and owe them money. But they still haven’t approved and my balance on the IRS site says $0.

Your “bill” is the Form 1040 you filed almost a month ago, and IRS pushes unpaid balance due returns to the back of the line for processing.

Start throwing money at the balance due:

IRS will issue the first notice demanding full payment in June.

When you have that notice in hand, access Online Payment Agreement at IRS.gov and set up the payment plan that meets your needs. IRS offers short-term (180 days or fewer) and long-term (seven months or more) plans, each with varying terms and conditions.
