you already filed one amendment (1040-x) and you want to file a second one . Go for it

First of all, you don’t file form 1098-T. You may or may not use the information to fill out other schedules and forms when filing your taxes, but the 1098-T is not included.

Also, you should not be using your 1098-T for Tuition paid, you need to use your actual numbers (1098-T is often wrong), and if using the AOTC, you need to include all Qualified Expenses, not just tuition.

So… what exactly did you do?

You need to file an amended return using Form 1040 X but you must absolutely wait until your original return is completely processed by the IRS before you submit the correction

If you amend too early while the IRS is still processing your first return their system can get completely confused and it will freeze your account for months causing a massive delay

Once your original return is fully approved and your refund hits your bank account just log back into the tax software you used to file and select the option to amend your return.

The software will generate Form 1040 X and let you fix the typo on Form 8863 which is the actual tax form where that 1098 T tuition number goes to calculate your education credits.

You can electronically file the amendment right through the software and if the corrected tuition amount gets you a bigger tax break the IRS will just send you a second separate refund for the difference.
