I received a letter from the IRS saying "Our records do not show that we have received a copy of the form 1099-R that you are claiming from the companies that handles the account." But I never made a claim nor did I include it in my return with FreeTAXUSA. I got in contact with FreeTax and they confirmed it was not in my return. They say if I don't send a copy in an ammended return or fax it they'll consider it incomplete (even though I already got my refund issued and paid off taxes owed).

I don't know what to do about this.

    1. Check your records for a Form 1099-R. IRS is saying that one was reported under your SSN. Think back and see if you received a check from a 401(k) or IRA oe other retirement plan during the year in question. Maybe you changed jobs and cashed out of the retirement plan. You can also log in to your IRS.GOV account if you have one and download a Wage and Income transcript for the year in question and it should be there.
