I am starting to believe that subsistence farming is the best you can do on earth.
This is kind of an opportunity for those who lose their seed phrases, however, it brings a huge question for security and trusts.
I hate having to update EVERY time I use something. I wish there were a simplified version for people only storing bitcoin, a version with NO updates. You've shown it works, stop trying to fix it.
The whole point of cold wallets is lack of trust. Do not ask anyone in this industry to trust. It NEVER works out. I would like to opt-in to a service that has no updates and ignores the heaps of sh**-coins.
Do this with your paper codes.
Wright a story or a poem 99 words or less.
Everytime you use one of your seed words note the word number ir is between 1-99
Once you are done youll have your list of number's 1-99
Wright your code numbers down in lines of 6.
Now you can copy your poem 100x if you choose give it to your family dare them to keep it safe cos one day youll ask for it.
You can keep your two line of 6 numbers on your fridge for all to see.
You can literally use them as your lotto number's.
But you know those lotto number's are the key to that story or that poem. Or barz bro whatever.

I once had a Ledger but switched after the first craziness a few years back.
Metal engraved with an encrypted seed is the way.
Got my first BTCs in 2010, and have never considered buying a HW wallet lol. It can break, battery can melt, chips can fry, it can be exploited, wont survive fires, floods etc ..
Its just an all round stupid idea. And anyway you need to store a seed for that now, so just store the blockchain seed, what's the point.
I keep a copy of the public key on my devices so i can send to those wallets and thats it, when i need to get stuff out i know where to find it, and even my house is on fire, than flooded, than an earthquake hits it, my key will survive.
For daily use i have a hot wallet with not much in it.
I sleep very well : )

Ok time to burn my ledgers, there is no thing a 'trust' in crypto, the tech should be TRUSTLESS
I think Ledger should offer a full refund for all those that do not want this firmware upgrade or be sued for false advertising and mis representation
A backdoor is a remote administrator tool, why are you all talking about backdoor? There is no backdoor here
I know this might be far fetched, but since they are closed code, who can say for sure that they don't already have a huge database with plenty of collected seeds? I'm not implying they do, just pointing out, that we can't know.
